Cornucopia Cruise Line is always looking for well-trained staff to provide our guests with the fantastic experience they have come to expect. Established in 1997, Cornucopia cruise Line has grown to become one of New Jersey and New York City’s largest dinner, wedding, and private event cruise line, operating six vessels. Departing from New York City, Hoboken, NJ and Perth Amboy, NJ we offer brunch, lunch and dinner and event cruises in New York harbor and the inland waterways of New York and New Jersey as well as dinner, lunch, and brunch cruises.

Dining Room Positions

Maitre d / Host

This position requires a minimum of two years banquet dining room management experience. You will be expected to train, supervise and coordinate dining room staff to ensure the high quality of service and efficiency for our guests.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Set up and arrange dining room to accommodate guests. Maintain the cleanliness of our dining rooms, utensils, table ware and glasses.
• You must have knowledge of food served and be able to communicate ingredients used in food to guests.
• You must be able to remedy guest complaints.
• You will be expected to transport and lift large catering trays buss pans and wash bins. You must inventory and maintain daily supplies.
• You must be willing to assist with boat operations and coast guard requirements as they relate to dining room staff and guests.
• You must be able to manage employee schedules and arrange for shift changes and subs.
• You must have great social and verbal skills.

Education and Experience

• ServSafe certification preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Several years’ experience in restaurants and banquet environments.
• Minimum of two years banquet dining room management experience. Resume required.|

Servers

You must have dining room experience in a fast paced and high volume environment. You will be expected to transport and lift cases of glasses, bus pans and wash bins.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• ServSafe certification preferred
• You must have great social and verbal skills. Resume required.
• Minimum of one year restaurant / banquet experience.

Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Several years’ experience in restaurants and banquet environments.
• Minimum of one year bartending experience.

Bartenders / Bar-backs

Must have experience in an environment that is fast paced and high volume. It’s a plus if you have the ability to help us create specialty cocktail lists and promotional drinks. Both bartenders and bar-backs will be expected to transport and lift cases of wine, liquor, glasses, buss pans and wash bins.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have ServSafe or tips certification for bartender position.
• Must be knowledgeable about beer, wine, mixed drinks and cocktails for bartender position.
• You must have great social and verbal skills.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Several years’ experience in restaurants and banquet environments.
• Minimum of one year bartender experience.

Kitchen Positions

Banquet Chefs

Responsible for preparation and cooking banquet menu items. Responsible for supervising kitchen staff.

Line Cooks

Responsible for preparation and cooking banquet menu items at the direction of the Banquet Chef.

Dish Washer

Responsible for dishwashing and completing miscellaneous kitchen as needed. Food preparation is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have ServSafe certification for food handling positions.
• Be detailed and thorough with food preparation and presentation.
• Must have the ability to remain calm in high stress situations.
• Be able to solve problems quickly under pressure.
• Must have the ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to work in hot kitchen, in fast paced environments and in demanding situations.|
• Must be willing to begin work some days in the early morning hours and other times remain at work late into the night depending on the size and time of a particular banquet.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays as these are common times for banquets.
• Must be able to handle heavy lifting, long hours of standing and other taxing physical activities.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.

Education and Experience

•High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
•Degree from accredited culinary school is a plus.
•Several years’ experience in restaurants and banquet environments.

Marine Crew

Captain

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Requires Master, 100 Ton License
• Operate 120ft Commercial yachts
• Perform Pre- and post-trip inspection of Vessel
• Troubleshoot and identify problems which may occur onboard the vessel while in operation
• Familiarity with the inland waterways from Raritan Bay to New York Harbor
• Boats are moored in Hoboken NJ and Perth Amboy NJ
• Having a TWIC card is beneficial

Deck Hands – Cleaning Crew

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Perform Pre- and Post-Trip inspection of Vessel
• Troubleshoot and identify problems which may occur onboard the vessel while in operation
• Clean bathrooms, engine room checks, etc.
• Deal with customer service issues as they arise
• Ensure vessel is clean and ready for service, at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day
• Follow the direction of captain while onboard
• Monitor passengers while onboard to ensure safety
• Ability to operate in a customer service environment.
• Having a TWIC card is beneficial

Marine Mechanics

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and diesel marine engines, motors, and related marine equipment.
• Establishes and maintain a preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine equipment.
• Periodically test marine engines and related marine equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment.
• Operates hand and power tools associated with marine engine and related marine equipment repair.
• Assist in the fabrication of parts as necessary to facilitate repairs.
• Purchases parts and supplies.
• Write equipment specifications and recommendations for purchase of marine equipment.
